My husband and I hired Hern Construction, to do a porch addition on our home. Christian’s bid was not the lowest bid we got. We originally hired the contractor with the lower bid, but after a lot of frustrations and lack of communication, fired that contractor. We have been so thankful that we decided to hire Christian instead! The situation has just been one more example of getting what you pay for.

From the start, Christian showed up promptly to all of our appointments and has always been prompt to answer any phone calls or emails when we have had questions along the way. Christian has kept us informed of everything from costs to timing through each step of the construction process. Any issues that have arisen have been quickly and professionally handled by Christian, never making us feel like we were any trouble. Each of the companies Christian hired was reliable and easy to work with. They all cleaned up at the end of each work day and made it as easy as possible for us to access the front entrance to our home.

The final product is above and beyond anything we originally expected, as it is truly a work of art. We feel our money was well spent with Hern Construction and will be hiring Christian in the future.

In need of a complete rebuild of my back porch, I asked Christian Hern of Hern Construction to provide suggestions and a proposal for the rebuild. The porch extends the full length along the back of my house form the second floor and measures 44 feet long by111 feet wide. I was anticipating a pretty much replacement of the original wood decking and metal railing. Christian, however, came up with something more innovative and suggested using a relatively new product for the deck and new PVC Railing. This new product, a wood grain embossed PVC deck board water shedding system has a substantially longer life and requires less maintainance than wood.

The Hern Construction team was very efficient in the demolition and reconstruction effort that included major improvements in the supporting structure as well. Christian was engaged in every step of the project and is obviously very knowledgeable. The result is a very significant improvement in both the esthetic and durability of the porch as well as the usability of the first floor area below. I am pleased with the outcome and highly recommend Christian and Hern Construction for home improvement or new construction needs.
